Journaling for Self-Care

Sitting for some time each morning to journal is an amazing way to start each day! Morning writing is great for setting up your day in a mindful, positive way. I actually benefit from writing at night as well, just before going to bed as a closure to my day. This helps to clear my mind and prepare for sleep.

Whichever time you choose, know that it does not have to be writing on an intentional topic. Just write whatever thoughts come into your mind. Whether it is worrying about something coming up in the future, something you are struggling with currently or griping about someone or something, be as real as you can. This can also be an opportunity to express gratitude for things going well in your life. Be honest with no holding back. Only you will read this, so go for it!

I think you will find, as I do, that this helps to release any thoughts and emotions that are no longer serving you. For me, this is a kind of meditation…letting the thoughts come in, acknowledging them, and then releasing them. I am confident you will feel the wonderful benefits of this practice. Peace, purpose, calm and clarity are some feelings you may experience. A reduction in stress an anxiety is a likely outcome too!

Get yourself a fun journal or notebook that you love and maybe some fun pens, pencils, even crayons. Give it a try and let me know how it is going. I’d love to hear from you!
